What do I need to be a volunteer?

  • Willingness to Learn – Training and mentoring are available.
  • Working With Children Check – Required for some junior and youth activities.

No previous experience is necessary for many volunteer roles.

Keelboat Trophy Officer

Help preserve the rich history of SoPYC sailing.

This volunteer role supports trophy administration, record keeping, budgeting, cataloguing, and preservation of the Club’s trophy collection.

Sailability

Help people of all abilities experience the joy of sailing.

SoPYC’s Sailability program operates weekly and relies on volunteers for:

  • Skippers
  • Safety Boat Drivers & Crew
  • Rigging & Boat Preparation
  • Crane Operations
  • Participant Support & Welcome Teams

OTB Galley

Enjoy helping junior sailors and families? Join our OTB Galley volunteer team and assist with food service, hospitality, and race-day support.

Committees

Club committees play a vital role in shaping sailing, boating, events, facilities, and member activities.

Members interested in contributing to Club governance and development are encouraged to nominate for committee positions or contact a Committee Chair.

Volunteer Information and Policies

All volunteers must comply with Club policies, safety requirements, and applicable child safeguarding standards. Training and support are provided where required.
