Remote Control Sailing
The DragonFlite 95 (DF95) is South of Perth Yacht Club’s growing radio-controlled yacht racing class, offering affordable, competitive sailing without the cost and commitment of full-size boats.
Racing takes place every Friday from 3:00pm to 5:30pm on the pond adjacent to the Western Hardstand, attracting members from across the Club.
Why Sail a DF95?
The DF95 is a strict one-design radio-controlled yacht, meaning success comes down to sailing skill, tactics and boat handling.
Benefits include:
- Affordable entry cost (under $500)
- Easy transport and storage
- No crew required
- No pen, registration or slipping fees
- Close and competitive racing
- Suitable for all ages and experience levels
Designed by John Tushingham and manufactured by Joysway, the DF95 has become one of the world’s most popular radio sailing classes, with national, state and world championships held internationally.
Getting Started
DF95 yachts are supplied as a complete kit and can typically be assembled in 2-3 hours. Everything is included except AA batteries.
Whether you’re an experienced sailor or completely new to the sport, the DF95 offers an exciting and accessible way to enjoy racing.
Come and Try
Visitors are welcome to watch or participate on Friday afternoons. Existing skippers are always happy to introduce newcomers to the class and provide an opportunity to have a sail.
