Cruising Section
Whether you’re a new boat owner building confidence on the water or an experienced skipper who enjoys cruising with like-minded people, the South of Perth Yacht Club Cruising Section has something for you.
The Cruising Section is SoPYC’s only non-competitive boating group, bringing together sail and power boat owners for relaxed, social adventures on the Swan River and beyond. Members regularly cruise to destinations including Mandurah, Fremantle, Mindarie and coastal marinas, as well as enjoying local river events.
This section of the club was formed due to a growing demand by couples and families taking up boating and looking to cruise in company. Our only agenda is to have fun on the water and use our boats in great company.
We strive to offer members the opportunity to:
- Meet and welcome new members
- Forge new friendships in a relaxed social atmosphere
- Explore and gain knowledge of our beautiful waterways
- Encourage member participation in SoPYC activities & events
- Have a great time using their boats
- Group cruises and flotillas
- Raft-ups and jetty parties
- Progress dinners on member boats
- Coastal and river adventures
- Boating education and mentoring
- Social events and land tours
Escorted convoy cruises run to coastal yacht clubs and marinas, and we also enjoy the occasional inland cruise (by car) to a fantastic destination.
With boats ranging from 18 to 50+ feet, it’s not the size or speed of the boat that matters, it’s the company.
Joining the Cruising Section is free and open to all members of SoPYC. We encourage all members to join us, new or old, looking to expand their boating and social horizons.
